Breathe In Courage, Exhale Doubt: Creating Space for Your Happiness

Let’s talk about doubt. You know, that sneaky voice in your head that says, “Who do you think you are?” whenever you dare to dream a little bigger. I’ve been there—more times than I can count. But here’s what I’ve learned: doubt can’t breathe in a space filled with self-love.

For years, I thought happiness was something I’d stumble upon once I reached a certain goal or checked off every item on my to-do list. Spoiler alert: that’s not how it works. I’d achieve something big but still feel like it wasn’t enough. Sound familiar?

Choosing happiness is scary because it requires letting go of perfection and embracing the messy, beautiful work of being human. For me, it took hitting pause, literally stopping everything, and asking myself:

  • What am I holding on to that’s weighing me down?

  • What would happen if I choose joy over fear?

  • How can I create space for happiness right now?

This is why I created Simply Mindful Art—to hold space for myself and for you. I wanted a way to let go of doubt and remind myself that I am enough just as I am. Art became my anchor, my way of breathing life into courage and purpose. And now, it’s my mission to share that magic with others.

Ready to make your courage jar?  Because we all could use a little more courage…
Here’s a fun project: draw a big jar in your journal and label it “Courage.” Inside the jar, write or draw everything that represents bravery to you. It could be a word that inspires you, an image of a mountain you’ve climbed (figuratively or literally), or even a small act of self-care that felt like a bold move. Every time doubt creeps in, come back to this jar.

Because let’s be real: letting go of doubt doesn’t mean you won’t occasionally have a full-on meltdown about what to watch on Netflix or why your Wi-Fi is slow. (Trust me, we’ve all been there.) But it does mean you’ll stop doubting your worth every time life gets messy.

So, how about this: the next time you hear that little voice of doubt, pause. Breathe in courage. Exhale the nonsense. And remind yourself—you’ve got this.

What’s one small way you’ll choose happiness this week? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to cheer you on!

Let's thrive together!
